Spay/neuter . . .

Spay/neuter your pet!

Each year thousands of adoptable pets are destroyed because there simply are not enough good homes for all of them. Having your animal spayed or neutered is the most loving thing you can do for companion animals in our area.

Area Programs

Animal Alliance of WNY Low-Cost Spay/Neuter Clinics for Cats: The AAWNY, a coalition of area animal welfare groups, is currently conducting a pilot spay/neuter program targeting Buffalo zipcode areas 14207 and 14203 (Black Rock and the West Side). Those who meet the same qualifying guidelines as for HEAP can have their cat spayed/neutered for $45. The first clinic is scheduled for Sunday, May 7. Details can be found on the AAWNY website.

Second Chance Sheltering Network offers several excellent spay/neuter programs for both cats and dogs. Low-cost spay and neutering for cats is open to the public with no income restrictions: $65 includes spay/neuter, rabies and distemper vaccinations. Call (716) 652-1359 and leave a message to register for a clinic. A Second Chance Volunteer will return the call and make an appointment. Spay/Neuter for dogs is also available. For more information, call (716) 668-3400, or go to the Second Chance Spay/Neuter information page.

Feral Cat Focus offers assistance with feral cat colony management and offers low-cost spay/neuter services as part of their TNVR (Trap-Neuter-Vaccinate-Release) program. Visit their website for more details.

Why not donate?

We also need your donations to help stem the flow of abused, neglected, and unwanted animals making their way into area shelters. By reducing animal populations, we can not only reduce unwanted animals on our streets, but actually reduce costs associated with animal control and welfare. Did you know that each $1 spent on spay/neuter programs returns at least $5 in animal control savings? It's good for the animals. It's good for the city.
